I just missed the cut-off for porn battle prompts with my last set by ten minutes. I had all my OT4 prompts in there so I'm really hoping... *crosses fingers* We'll see tomorrow morning.

There's so much SGA OT4 love going on right now. [livejournal.com profile] team_sga is having a month-long AU ficathon. Already, there's a really awesome story by [livejournal.com profile] briar_pipe with the team as kids. And (unconnected to the ficathon) there's [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777's wonderful OT4 story with a pregnant Teyla and an uncertain John.

LOL. So I was thinking this morning, "Oh man I really should have just signed up to do art for SGA Big Bang. I'm going to feel so guilty if OT4/threesome doesn't happen." And then I got an email about participating. AHAHA. I signed up last night and totally forgot that I had! *FAILS*

But anyway, it's going to be sweet. My *impression* is that you can STILL sign-up as an artist/vidder for "other" slash and het/OT4 for SGA Big Bang here if you missed the weekend poll. (I mean possibly not, because I really am not good with understanding directions sometimes, but they still really need artists so yeah, I doubt they're going to turn anyone away.) ETA: You can definitely still sign up for both writing and art-making. Yay! Threesome is still up in the air about whether it will happen (but if that's the only thing you'd want to do, tell [livejournal.com profile] thisissirius.)

GO AND SIGN UP! WE CAN SUFFER BE AWESOME TOGETHER! I'm probably going to make a vid trailer or possibly try to something collage-y or whatnot. DRAWING NOT MY STRONG POINT.

Bigbang writers of anything other than John/Elizabeth and John/Rodney read this. Sign-ups start Wednesday.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest the multifannish LGBT-centered fanfic challenge is now open for prompt claiming. There's some seriously awesome prompts there.

My reading lately has been sparse, but I very much enjoyed these:

Limits by miera_c
(Sheppard/Lorne, second time, back on Earth, porny)

Reconnaisance by franticsga
(McKay/Sheppard gen, post-4x02 Lifeline)

Command Structure by Kat Reitz and Tzigane
(McKay/Sheppard, long and porny, bdsm, "when they were young")

Students of Hope (though I have it bookmarked as "Separated for years..." - oops) by scrunchy
(McKay/Sheppard gen, angsty, back on Earth, includes Carson, Elizabeth, Lorne, and Zelenka.)

Does anyone have any good angst stories or recs? My absolute favorite SGA angst is Charting the Motions of the Planets by Dasha. I'm sure there's many others I've enjoyed but my memory is a little foggy. And I forget to mark things as "angst" when I bookmark them. (I ask because I am trying to write something angsty. In this endeavor, penknife's essay On Writing Angst has been helpful. Another resource I've been using a lot lately is How to Construct Alternate Universes that Work as Fanfic by Rat Creature, which I consult whenever betaing crossovers.)

I'm at my parents' house and they get BBC tv! So I've been watching a Torchwood marathon, episodes 1x08-1x12. Until now I had only seen the first ep (proudly continuing the tradition of seeing things all out of order!) and wasn't that impressed, but it turns out to be pretty watchable. Though it seems like Toshiko and Ianto get completely sidelined. In 1x12 "Captain Jack Harkness" though, wow, that kiss... I'm all a-wibble.

the kiss - spoilers for 1x12 )

Oh hey, anyone know where this picture is from? It kinda looks like a manip.

So, [livejournal.com profile] dar_jeeling posted this picture of a wet Rodney with chest hair and somebody mentioned bear!Rodney, which reminded me of this screencap I took a while ago:

'He's young but still damn cute' )
Pairing/characters: Teyla-centric OT4 (John/Ronon/Rodney/Teyla)
Summary/kink: The shadow of impending death - hours, minutes, or moments.
Notes: Spoilers through 4x02 "Lifeline." Het and slash, hurt/comfort, NC-17. ~4900 words. For [livejournal.com profile] rounds_of_kink.
This could use some more work, I think, but I'd like to get it posted; may revise later.

[livejournal.com profile] telesilla has declared it Smack a Lantean on the Ass Weekend for purposes of generating more SGA spanking fic. This makes me happy. And [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777 has already written John spanking Rodney and it's the really good porn: Shall Receive (NC-17, mild D/s.)
I did not squee as much this time as over 4x01. But that line... you know which one... I'm still laughing about it. (Dear TPTB, it's not slash if they're DOING IT ON SCREEN!)

Shallow, Very Shallow, Commentary on SGA 4x02 )
RECS: (mostly SGA, with a few others at the end)

When I bookmark stories, I only ever tag them as "blowjob" if it's a really good one.

I Don't Know / Third Base by Caroline (SGA, Teyla/Rodney, NC-17) in which Rodney is just where Teyla wants him. By the way, is oral sex considered third base these days? I'm so behind the times.

Good Timing by toft_froggy (SGA, John/Rodney, NC-17) in which Rodney is convincing and there is damn good kissing.

The Blowjob Fic by thegrrrl (SGA, John/Rodney, NC-17) in which Rodney is again convincing and gives a damn good blowjob.

More good blowjobs... )

...and now I have this random urge to yell "Surprise Blowjob!"

Random rec:

hilarious comment fic by anonymous (Due South, PG-13) in which we learn why you should log out of Gmail before you Google something.

revelininsanity talks about mental differences/disabilities in fic and fandom - I wish everyone would read this.

chopchica and a number of others talk about anti-semitism in fandom and elsewhere - also a good read though I'm a little unclear on what the original situation was.

So, yeah... That SGA episode I uploaded? Not complete. Did I check first? No... because it's been that long. Ah well. Life goes on.

If you don't mind being spoiled for 4x02 (apparently? I'm not sure what the spoilers are exactly since I haven't seen it yet) then go check out this fanart by [livejournal.com profile] echelon_ga_l. (Especially if you always wanted a redux of "Before I Sleep" evil!Elizabeth like me.) If you don't want to be spoiled, bookmark it and look at it later, for serious.

Is it just me or does this guy look a lot like Ben Browder, except nakeder? very NSFW )

Do you like dirty hot wrong porn? Rodney/John style dirty hot wrong porn?

If yes, go read this. You will thank me when you stop being dead.
Written for this week's [livejournal.com profile] contrelamontre challenge: Write a fic that includes the following: something blue, the number three, a shoe, and a bell. You have 60 minutes.

Title: Things to Do in the Middle of the Night on a Roof
Rating: PG
Fandom: Stargate/Stargate Atlantis
Pairing: McKay/O'Neill
Summary: Sam and Daniel promise that General O'Neill won't catch them on his roof in the middle of the night.
Words: 1441
Author's Notes: Unbeta'ed. Please tell me if you see any tenses that should be fixed.

So, I started reading this McKay/O'Neill story (though I've only read the first chapter so far) and the pairing kind of stuck in my head. I've only seen a few episodes of SG-1 but today I watched the very first couple of eps, and Jack kinda grew on me some more. I'm hoping this isn't too OOC, since this is set somewhere around SGA season 2. This sort of really wrote itself which is unusual enough to warrant posting even though I'm kinda nervous.

On to the story! )
Two fics: both with straight!John (with a side of pining!John), both from John's point-of-view, both McKay/Sheppard, both NC-17, and both with lots of making out in bed. Other than that? Quite different stories.

Sex, Movies, and Misconceptions by [livejournal.com profile] thegrrrl2002 and [livejournal.com profile] mmmchelle. John comes across Rodney's porn collection and gets some ideas from it. It's not too hard to anticipate where the plot is going with this one, but it's a lot of fun getting there. I love John's reactions to all the porn (yep, masturbation included!) and his attempt at seducing Rodney. As always with these two authors, the dialogue is spot on and the sex is just lush and intimate - I was reminded once again of why I prefer fanfiction to porn about 9 times out of 10.

The Way Oceans Do Not Sleep by [livejournal.com profile] wesleysgirl This story starts post-Defiant One. Rodney isn't doing so well and John tries to comfort him. Hot and sweet and mildly porny. It seemed a tiny bit rushed, but the whole story has a level of intensity that is fairly consistent, so I think it works. Both John and Rodney have issues to work out, but the way they allow themselves to be vulnerable with each other is really lovely. It's also the one where John says, "It takes more than a little bug to kill me," and we all laugh at the silly man.

Er, so, I was going to write porn tonight. In celebration of having finished my midterm and all. But instead I wrote... not-porn. It was intended to be for the [livejournal.com profile] contrelamontre weekly challenge, but it's not exactly slash either (though it would probably head in that direction if I continued it.) So, um.

Disappointment challenge, 30 minutes.
Michael-centric, gen. Spoilers for S3E1 "No Man's Land".
545 words.

He's back on Atlantis again. )

Oh hey, this is a cool thing: advert for Argentinian presidential candidate. It won an award at the Cannes Advertising Festival. Very clever.

Lalala. I'm up early this morning. This is especially impressive because the boy is visiting and he ALWAYS wakes up much earlier than me. (It's so annoying!) It's strange too, because I was thinking last night that I hoped I could wake up early so I could check livejournal. (Obsessed, who, me?)

Last night we made pasta with artichoke hearts and watched Trinity and Instinct. I'm trying to catch him up so we can watch the new eps together (the whole living in different states thing makes this somewhat challenging.) He asked me what Trinity was about beforehand and I was like, well it's kind of the cornerstone of the McKay/Sheppard relationship. (He's well-versed in the slash, though I think left to his own devices he might ship Teyla/John. Or just Teyla/Teyla ;-) And then I said, wait, "cornerstone" sort of implies stability, right? Okay, maybe less cornerstone and more... large hole in the wall. Of course, then he was all WHAT? What's going to happen? I'm horrible with the almost-spoilery hints of doom...

I finally watched No Man's Land on Monday (jeez, how'd the week go by so quick?) so I'm a little late with the requisite "OMG SQUEE" post. Not a whole lot to say that hasn't been said, but basically (1) go Elizabeth with the kicking ass and taking names... SPOILERS RUIN LIVES. DON'T BECOME A VICTIM. ) (10) Yay, Atlantis is back! What more do you need, really? (Though... more Teyla next time, please?)
I'm just back from California after an ENTIRE DAY of airports and airplanes. I left to drive to the airport at 5:30 in the morning and got home just now at about 1:30 am. I got stuck in the Denver airport for 4 and 1/2 hours. (I took advantage of this by reading Cesperanza's Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead - which is just... mind-blowingly good and happy-making.) But now I'm home in one piece and with all my luggage (except for my bag of food, which I absent-mindedly left on a plane. It had cake in it, too!)

So, of course, now I'm wired and I started brainstorming two different stories today that I really want to work on. I'm not sure if my brain is up to it at the moment. Though maybe it would be better that way. Hey, the current sga_flashfic topic is "exhaustion" - I could work on something for that too!

Also. You know you're a grammar nazi when... you actually consider going up to the flight attendant and saying "Cell phones are allowed. The use of cell phones is allowed." SINGULAR NOUN DAMNIT! (I didn't, btw. I'm not that lacking in tact/fear.)

Also #2. The co-pilots/whatever-you-call-them say, "See you downstairs" (meaning "on the ground.") I think I heard two different ones say it today.

Also #3: I have this story bookmarked to read later. I was looking at the title - "In the Jumper Bay (aka RPS for Puddle Jumpers)" - and my first thought was that it was RPS for the band from trinityofone's band AU (the band is called The Puddlejumpers.) Which, actually, is not at bad idea AT ALL. In fact, now I kinda want to do it. Because you could make it soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo full of crack. But this "In the Jumper Bay" is actually the puddlejumpers (the gateships! the macaroni!) slashing John and Rodney. Which is, at 2 am anyway, kind of... disturbing. I mean. How would you feel if your car gossipped about your sex life? That's like your car naming you! Which is wrong! YOU name your CAR! My car's name is George, not that you needed to know that. Or really anything in this entry, but. Eh. There's LJ for you.
I've been reading stories from the [livejournal.com profile] atlantisbasics ficathon all day -- I think I've gotten through about 3/4 of them. This is perhaps a bit late - the challenge closed last week but I swore not to read anything until I'd finished my story.
