Okay, basically the Lamba Literary Awards changed their awards policy so that they now only accept works by LGBT authors (though they also have an award for works by allies, I believe.) I've only read a fraction of the posts on the linkspam, but the first block seems to be mostly people who are against the change, while the second block seems to be pro-LLA and/or reactions to the fail of the first block. I haven't really investigated the third block yet.
I started here, which is probably one of the more full of fail posts. Erastes then went on to freeze comments, tell people off for not being polite, etc. etc. Seeking Avalon first talks about the race fail, then goes on to discuss the LLA decision and ally fail. And here worries about a "queer litmus test" (my comment.) Oh, and people are already planning awards for GLBT writing that aren't limited to GLBT writers.
I'm not specifically pro or anti the LLA decision though I think Kynn makes a good case for being pro. I'm REALLY against all the "oh noes they be takin' my privilege!" bullshit that the straight, cis m/m genre writers are spewing. I like m/m and original slash (well, some of it) but I don't think there's anything wrong with having the awards be for LGBT people only.
now with prettier html!
