Posted unfinished fic, *headdesk*. Must write more. Too tired.
Mmm, sleepy cat on lap.

General question. What do you do when you have finished a piece of writing but you know it could be better but you really don't want to rewrite it anymore?

Apparently SGA is renewed for 5th season - in case anyone didn't hear. Good stuff.

You do the same thing you do when you have an essay. You just turn it in and bitch about it for the rest of your life.

God, essays. I can't even remember any essays I've written! So I guess that works.

yeah. Just think of a story as another crap essay.

This is why I am never going to be a motivational speaker... I should feel kind of sad about that shouldn't I? That I have a severe inability to actually be reassuring to other people?

Caticon! The cat in the picture actually looks a lot like the one (again) on my lap.
Hah. [livejournal.com profile] nunshavingfun as motivational speaker: "Don't worry, it doesn't really matter what you do! We're all gonna die soon anyway."

Your life sounds fabulous. It involves boys and cats.

XD I am such a failed existentialist.

I'm house-sitting right now, which is where the cat is from. But we went to the shelter on Tuesday (sad! so many kitties!) and picked a cat to adopt. Our application hasn't been approved yet, but hopefully soon. (The boy wants to adopt all the cats, but I told him we probably couldn't do that.)

Boys and cats! You should adopt two kitties so they can be bffs. Cats get lonely and then like pee in your shoes out of spite.

Boys and cats! Catboys! Wait, no. Though actually my other housemate is a bit of a catgirl (she has a collar and ears and a tail.) We might get another cat later. See how one does first. But pee in shoes, ew no.

Post it as it is. The last 10% to perfection take the most work and sometimes it's just not worth it. And really... when can we look at something and don't think "hmm, that could be better"? Or maybe that's just me...

Agreed.

I took this advice on one thing. In the other case I think it might be more like 50% to perfection. I decided print it out, so I can look at spatially and try to rearrange pieces. It's just... getting into that frame of mind where I can rewrite something without hating it and killing the whole thing, y'know?

That would be good! I've gotten a few kind souls to look at things, but in most cases, they don't see problems where I see problems. And I don't have enough distance on my work to really see where it's going wrong - I just sense something not working. Then again, maybe I'm being overly critical of myself.
