Yay, indeed! I am so excited! Especially after having endured that public hearing a few weeks ago, and now for it to pass, despite Douglas' hypocritical veto, is so wonderful!!!!! I am finally married in my own state! Woooot!

And so soon after the Iowa decision! I'm going to start singing "Everything's Coming Up Roses" in my best Ethel Merman voice any minute now!!

And we did it without the court, with the legislature. That feels really good. I'm so proud!

I am finally married in my own state!

How does that work actually? Will civil unions automatically become marriages?

I think it's pretty cool that it was the legislature too. I've read stuff saying that it doesn't represent the majority opinion in Vermont, but these are *elected* legislators... that's how it's supposed to work, right? Douglas really shot himself in the foot with this one.

Well, we got married in Massachusetts back in 2004, as well as having been civilly united back in 2000, so the state should recognize our Mass. marriage. At least, that's how I see it. If we hadn't been married in MA, we would have to actually get married in VT.

I think it's more of a majority than the gay marriage opponents want to admit to themselves. The majority of them are older citizens, and I think that Vermont has enough younger people -- combined with the progressives and liberals -- to make a majority who either strongly believes it should happen, or who doesn't really care, I guess.
